Daryl Dykes, M.D.
 
Dr. Daryl Dykes completed his general surgical internship in San Francisco and orthopedic specialty training in Tacoma and Seattle, Washington. This is in addition to serving in Ft. Greely, Alaska as a flight surgeon and physician for the U.S. Army’s Northern Warfare Training Center before joining Alabama Bone & Joint. As a specialist in cold weather injuries, he was the unit physician for the Army’s mountaineering team and commanded the Army’s only airborne forward surgical team in Europe, which was a rapid reaction surgical unit capable of operations in remote, adverse conditions.
 

Lloyd Johnson, M.D.Michael C. Gerhardt, M.D.

Dr. Michael C. Gerhardt’s practice focuses on joints and spinal surgery. He is a South African born American citizen. He was trained in Orthopedics in South Africa, passed the American Board equivalency exams and is licensed to work in Alabama. Prior to immigrating to the US, he practiced as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Canada and in South Africa. Dr. Gerhardt has practiced Orthopedics in Alabaster since the early nineties and has built up a strong patient base in Shelby County. As a commercial pilot, he is also involved in teaching flying.

Dr. Lloyd Johnson graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 1997. Dr. Johnson then completed his internship at Washington University School of Medicine General Surgery in St. Louis, Missouri in 1998. Afterwords, his residency was completed there in 2002.





Chad E. Mathis, M.D.Chad E. Mathis, M.D.


Chad E. Mathis, M.D. has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana; and a Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed his internship and residency at Indiana University Medical Center. For his fellowship, he was trained in Shoulder Reconstruction and Sports Medicine at the Lipscomb Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee.  Dr. Mathis has experience treating high school, collegiate and professional athletes.  Over the years he has been the team physician for multiple teams at all levels of sports, including the Nashville Predators (NHL) and Tennessee Titans. Dr. Mathis’ practice emphasizes arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle, as well as shoulder replacement.
 
Dr. Mathis actively participates in his children's chosen sports of soccer and baseball.  He has many hobbies including collecting art, flying, and playing drums and piano.
